The overall verdict
Hotel Colonial de Santillana is located in a brilliant location if you want to discover the medieval town of Santillana del Mar or venture further in the Cantabrian mountains or discover the spectacular coastline. The small hotel is very clean and has brilliant staff who will do anything to keep guests happy.
The hotel is very quiet and will provide guests with a relaxing stay.
The restaurant serves great food which is prepared using only fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

When I arrived at Hotel Colonial de Santillana, i was welcomed by a friendly lad who booked me in with no delays. He spoke perfect English as well, which made it a bit easier. Where I had a bicycle , i was asked if i wanted to place it inside the hotel which is a really nice touch. The bike was placed in the store /wash room.

The room:
I had booked a single room which was nicely decorated in a green and white colour scheme with hints of wood giving it the warmth and coziness it needs. The windows are fitted with blinds which allow for total black-out of the room.
The bed is high quality where the comfortable mattress provides you with a great sleep. A flatscreen television is also provided with a multitude of channels.
The bathroom was very clean and had a large walk-in shower and soaps and shampoo are provided.

The well priced menu is menu favourites like croquetas, calamari, merluza, pulpo,....
There is also a terrace where you can enjoy the stunning surroundings of Santillana.
