What we like

Very Quiet
Large bed
Clean

What we dislike

Large hotel  missing that personal touch
TV reception not good (Didn't bother us though as we were gone for most of the evening)

The overall verdict

The Castleknock Hotel is a modern hotel located in the green suburbs of Dublin. The Castleknock hotel is 10km away from Dublin city centre and is easily reached from Dublin airport or the ferry terminal. The hotel is surrounded by a fabulous golf course. The hotel is very quiet due to it's quiet location, and you wouldn't think that you are close to Ireland's capital.
The hotel's staff are very helpfull and friendly and the rooms are very clean. Where the executive room has a huge bed, workdesk, and all additional items you would expect from a 4 star hotel, we believe the hotel is best suited for the business traveller.

Full test review

Upon arrival, we parked the car in the ample carpark and walked the short distance to the hotel The Castleknock hotel is a large hotel which will have 190 bedrooms from January 2018 onwards. We noticed that construction is currently going on at the hotel, although we didn't observe any hindrance from this .
Check in was quick and efficient, and we were given a executive room on the second floor just when you walk out of the lift into the corridor.
At other hotels, we have noticed that a room close to the lifts can be noisy, but not in this instance.
The Castleknock hotel is quiet, and you really wouldn't think that you are only 10 km away from Dublin City centre.
The room has ample space, and the first thing you notice is the huge bed. The room is nicely done up in a green and beige colour scheme with hints of wood giving it the warmth and coziness it needs.
There is a workdesk and a table with a comfortable seat. The room has everything you need, from a bathrobe to slippers to a hairdryer to even stationary, it is all there.
The television in the room has a mixture of channels offering plenty of choice, unfortunately the reception wasn't great on the television.
Broadband is also provided and it is fast, no complaints here.
Also provided was plenty of drinking water, 1 large bottle of sparkling water and 1 large bottle of non sparkling water. There are also tea and coffee making facilities, and even include sachets to make hot chocolate

The bathroom was very clean and had both a walk-in shower and a bath.
Also available to the guests was a tray with Geneva Guild Shampoo, conditioner, body wash , moisteriser and a showercap
There were plenty of towels and toilet roll available as well.

After a great sleep, it was time to leave the castleknock hotel again. Although the room included breakfast, we didn't have the time to sample it.
Breakfast is served from 6.30 to 10.00 am during the week, 7.00 to 11.00 am during weekends.

All by all, the Castleknock hotel is a very quiet and clean and provides well equiped rooms.
In our view, this hotel is best suited for the business traveller as we missed that personal touch during our stay which you would like to see during extended holiday stays. But to be totally honest, we received the perfect professional treatment from all the staff like you would expect from a four star hotel.
